Multimedia Characteristics and Streaming
Streaming of video has proliferated as a common approach to viewing formerly exclusive TV and DVD content. YouTube and real-time video streaming via Netflix consume a large amount of bandwidth available on wired and wireless networks.
Recent studies indicate that the traffic amount is assumed to increase further, adding additional requirements on existing networks – and that is without even taking 3D content into consideration, which will consume considerably larger amounts of data in the future.
As part of my research, I evaluate the properties of current and future video compression methods and video delivery over existing and future networks to optimize the encoding and streaming of video content.
